Pretty Green
Pretty Green was founded in 2009 by one of the biggest names ever in music, the former Oasis front man Liam Gallagher. Gallagher had always been obsessed with clothes and throughout his oasis days wore many items of clothing that often caught the publics eye, some of which were super cool and would have the kids copying the look and others which only Liam himself could wear. In his own words his passions are clothes and music, so he'd already had a huge success with one passion in his life music the natural move on was to try and repeat this with his other passion clothes and from that Pretty Green was born.
I suppose the first thing for Gallagher to do was come up with a name for his clothing brand. Pretty Green is actually the title of a song by The Jam and perhaps this is a nod of respect from Liam to Paul Weller for the Mod Fathers stylish dressing over the years. Regardless of the reasoning behind the name Pretty Green it is and that has now been worked into a cool looking logo that appears on the Polo Shirts, Jumper, Jackets, T Shirts, Shirts and the other clothing in the range.
In the 90's when oasis were at their best Liam Gallagher was in the newspapers several times a week and always looked pretty cool, his style was mostly just that of a classic 'lad' wearing something simple whether it be jeans, jacket, t shirt, polo shirt, jumper, shirt and normally teamed up with a pair of adidas trainers, a pair of clarks shoes or a pair of pumps. His choice haircut was normally a 'mop top' style although him and his brother Noel did often change this and sometimes go for a complete shaved head skinhead look or a neat cropped short back and sides and Liam was even known sometimes to let it get really long and out of control. Sometimes Gallagher choice to keep his barnet covered and wear a hat whether it be a floppy style sun hat, small worker cap or some sort of wooly hat either of which would complete his chosen look for that day.
Liam famously wore a Burberry House Check Shirt in Oasis's massive hit Wonderwall video and other casual clothing brands he favoured over the years were Penfield, Adidas, Clarks and One True Saxon to name just a few.
So after becoming a style icon to many Liam Gallagher turned his hand to being the person responsible for producing clothes for style conscious men and created Pretty Green. Now in its second year Pretty Green is now one of the biggest and most popular clothing brands around and won the Drapers Menswear Brand Of The Year Award for 2010. With the brand now split into 2 labels the Black Label which is a bit smarter and more expensive and the Green Label which is a more casual wear. Both collections comprise of jackets, jumpers, t shirts, polo shirts, scarves, hats, shirts, jeans and other clothing. The brand is already loved by many and will only grow over the years.

All Mod Cons $24.99 The Jam: Paul Weller (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars, piano, harmonica); Bruce Foxton (vocals, bass); Rick Buckler (drums, percussion).Producers: Vic Coppersmith-Heaven, Chris Parry. After the success of their first two albums (IN THE CITY and THIS IS THE MODERN WORLD) within the span of barely a year-and-a-half, the Jam was not as pleased as it should have been. They had been extremely successful, but clearly the band (especially Weller), was chafing at being pigeonholed as "mod" revivalists. While the Jam's first two albums were clearly influenced by the mod movement of the early '60s, Weller was far too clever a songwriter to stick to the limitations of any one genre. ALL MOD CONS is the sound not just of an English youth movement, but of an English musical tradition of literate songcraft epitomized by writers such as Ray Davies of the Kinks, whose classic song "David Watts" is covered here.Weller's usual bombast is herein subsumed by gentler, more rhapsodic concerns, and he even manages a credibly gentle love balled in "English Rose." Of course the band still offers its share of unadulterated "rock" songs, but on ALL THE MOD CONS the lyrics are more likely to address the problems of English racism ("Down In The Tube Station At Midnight") than simple boy-girl dilemmas. This album marks the maturation of a brilliant songwriter. |

Excerpt: Adrian Holder Originally from Haverhill, Suffolk, UK, Adrian Holder was the charismatic singer, songwriter and guitarist of cult indie mod band The Moment . Noted for his anthemic power pop tunes, wild guitar style and his passionate live performances, Holder was the focal point of the band. The Moment achieved a degree of underground notoriety through one memorable album, The Work Gets Done, and a series of singles, including "In This Town," "One, Two They Fly," and "Ready To Fall." In the sleeve note to 'Mod Gods: The Best Of The Moment', released by Tangerine Records, music journalist Paul Moody of the New Musical Express described the band as "English pop music's greatest ever secret." In 2006 he released his first recording since The Moment: his song 'Goodbye Tuesday appeared on the Biff Bang Pow Records compilation album, 'Shimmy'. In 2008 he released a collection of home recorded demos as a self-released CDR, titled The Whistleblower . He lives in Dusseldorf, Germany and works at the International School of Dsseldorf as a science teacher.
