Stacy Adams is Not One Person
In this day and age there are few brand names that are over the century mark. Sure there are the icons such as Coca Cola, Budweiser, and Pepsi but even fewer with names that may have been named after people from the 19th century. One brand that started for mens dress shoes was actually a combination of two Men. That brand name is Stacy Adams. The brand name Stacy Adams was actually started in the year 1875 by two gentlemen in the town of Brockton Massachusetts named William H. Stacy and Henry L. Adams. They were both in the shoe industry already since Brockton was a mecca for many shoe factories at the time and still has many big shoe companies still based there. They decided to partner and start their very own brand and Stacy Adams was the name that just sounded right to them. So the Stacy Adams Shoe Company was born. They started manufacturing Gentlemen Shoes back in a time when there wasn't much of a middle class. You were either a farm worker or a city slicker. Well, there wasn't much business trying to go after farm workers so it was the urban gentleman who got to enjoy the spoils of their endeavors.
The Stacy Adams Shoe Company focused on cap toe style oxford shoes and boots which are still being sold today. The shoe style is called the Madison which is a basic lace up cap to shoe which if you look a little closer you will notice that they really do have a dapper Gentleman look to them. Now they are being made in several fashion colors and skin styles but originally you had to take them in any color you liked as long as it was black or brown. You now can find Stacy Adams shoes in all kinds of styles from classy iconic Madisons to flashy Crocodile Print leather dress shoes that are not for the fashionably timid.
Stacy Adams shoes have been through two world wars, prohibition in the 1920s and through countless economic cycles and have continued to survive because Stacy Adams always offered quality and affordability to their customers. Because the brand name Stacy Adams had become such a viable commodity, the Weyco Group which now owns the brand decided to have other like minded manufacturers produce suits,dress shirts and accessories that complimented the entire fashion concept that is now Stacy Adams. You can now dress in a fashionable manner from head to toe in everything that has the Stacy Adams moniker on it. Try doing that with Coca Cola.
