Choosing the Best Beach Wedding Shoes
With so many couples deciding to hold their weddings on a lovely beach, there's a definite need for the right kind of beach wedding shoes. While the beach can be the perfect venue for a wedding, the bride needs to plan in advance for the right sort of shoes to wear. She'll need to plan well in advance or she may find herself going barefoot or wearing flip flops. Either way, she'll need shoes that are water resistant as well as low heeled.
One viable option for beach wedding shoes is slip-ons. These simple shoes work well with the "bare" theme of a beach wedding. They're also quite easy to add to and accessorize using your wedding colors and theme.
Slip-ons work well due to the bride walking all over dry and wet beach sand. These shoes allow the bride to easily dust off any sand. It also means that sand won't get stuck between your toes which can be really annoying to clean out. In addition, if you choose to dip your feet into the water, slip-ons allow for fast drying.
Generally, plain white slip-ons are good for beach wedding shoes. White won't stick out like a sore thumb and have everyone staring at your feet rather than your gorgeous wedding dress. However, colors of gold, silver, or aquamarine will work nicely in small portions. Just go easy on the colors and keep them to a minimum.
It's pretty to attach some semi-precious gemstones to the strap on the back of the shoes. You can easily get something that fits in with your color scheme. If your dominant wedding color is red, add some synthetic rubies to the slip-ons. You can even arrange them in patterns.
Fabric works really well if you want to cover them in some way. Satin is a great choice, but do try to stay away from leather shoes. It's a heavy material and doesn't dry well if it gets wet. On the other hand, synthetic leather is great because it's waterproof and easier to decorate.
Organic materials such as Abaca are becoming popular in slip-on beach wedding shoes due to the beige color. The simple and natural look works well for a beach wedding. However, if Abaca gets wet, it's difficult to dry. So if you choose to use Abaca for your beach wedding shoes, also take some synthetic leather slip-ons to wear closer to the water.
