Scribblenauts is a game developed by 5th Cell, about a guy called Maxwell, who wants to capture Starites.
The starites are in every level that he goes to, and are typically behind a few obstacles. Maxwell has a special notebook, however, that enables him to summon almost anything he can imagine to help him out.
The problem though, is that the things he creates don't really work as well as he thinks they should.
Here are some of the objects that I have personally tried, and found that fit this particular category.
1.) Jetpack. I love the jetpack, to be honest. I find myself using it for almost every level. But it's not as good as you think; in actual fact, it has its limits that challenge you to play more imaginatively!
a.) It lets you fly only for 2 seconds.
b.) It 'malfunctions' when you touch water.
It should be noted that most 'personal flying devices' share the same fly-for-2-seconds trait.
2.) Crane. Now, I just might be a dumbass, but I just can't seem to extend the neck of the crane, or move it for that matter. Right now it's just a truck with a length of chain attached to it. What's this supposed to do anyway?
a.) Crane = Truck with free rope.
3.) Repellent. There was a level with a wasp in it, and I decided to kill it because it was bugging the hell out of me (pun intended) and getting in my way. So I made a insect repellant and used it on him.
Instead of killing the bug, it just put him to sleep for a few seconds, and there comes Mr. Wasp angrier than ever.
I wish they'd put 'Raid' in the game instead.
a.) Repellents don't kill bugs, but frogs do.
To be honest, I haven't really tried a lot of words in Scribblenauts yet (I'm at World 1 still), since I've clocked about 2 hours in total. But from what I've seen, Scribblenauts seems like it deserves the title of Game of the Year, simply because it makes people do what few games can: Having fun with your own imagination.
