Waterproof Shoes: Protect Your Feet
There different types of shoes and boots that are worn to work, while taking a walk, on formal occasions or for sports. It does not matter much when it is dry. However, when you need to walk through puddles of water your shoes can get wet and cause discomfort. At such times, you need waterproof shoes. If you are out running or jogging then water inside your shoes can be definitely uncomfortable. In such cases, it makes good sense to go for waterproof shoes which will keep your feet dry and comfortable.
By wearing waterproof shoes, you can protect your feet in winter against snow and slush and against water ingress in the rains. These shoes are thicker than usual to make them waterproof. There are some aspects of the shoes or boots that you need to consider before getting yourself a good and comfortable pair to protect your feet from water.
Rigidity of the Sole: If you are going hiking, it will be a wise idea to wear waterproof boots. You do not know the trail you will be taking. The terrain may be rough and rocky, or you may have to step through shallow waters. The surface may range from hard to slippery. As a result, it is necessary that your feet are well protected. The soles have to be rigid yet provide enough support and comfort. Shoes with thicker soles are preferable as they provide hours of comfort. Waterproofed shoes are best in such conditions.
Foot Cushioning: There are various boots available in stores. These are mountain leather boots, fancy ankle boots, casual boots, long boots, etc. Each of them is carefully manufactured with the right amount of cushioning. This is done to ensure maximum convenience not only for walking on uneven surfaces but for daily wear too. The waterproof boots are made especially for hiking. Foot cushioning is more important for hiking because the wearer has to carry a heavy weight on his shoulders.
Support for the Ankle: Quality boots have proper support around the ankle, because it is a fragile and vulnerable portion. While carrying the weight, it is mostly the ankle that takes on the whole burden. As a result designer boots are manufactured to allow maximum freedom of movement while providing ankle protection.
Weight: Weight is an important aspect for the boot because one needs comfort for all occasions. Waterproof boots tend to be bulkier but considering the benefit of keeping your foot dry, little additional weight is tolerable.
Breathable: It is important that your boots are airy and lets your feet breathe. The boots are made using materials that would not absorb water and also give enough space to the wearer's feet, so that it does not sweat continuously, especially in warm and humid weather conditions. This keeps the temperature of the shoes and the feet at a proper level.

It was a revolutionary method of manufacturing where the leather upper was not stitched to the sole but was fused using injection moulding technology, resulting in a truly waterproof joint. Wellingtons that are totally made of single piece injection moulded rubber are shoes that offer maximum protection against water ingress.
Wet feet can cause extreme discomfort, hence you should go for a pair of waterproof shoes that not only provides comfort but also look good. Such boots might cost a little extra but are worth buying and helpful in the long run. Consider shoes with GoreTex materials. These are tried and tested in the field.
