We've always admired Clint Eastwood's work ethic and he's like Woody Allen now putting out a film every couple years. Hereafter reunited Eastwood with Matt Damon after directing him in Invictus. We liked the film alright although critics seemed to think Eastwood had stumbled some. This trailer is looking like he may have again.
Hereafter is an interesting topic for Eastwood since it's dealing with mortality and I know sometimes it crossed my mind, so I'm sure at 80′s it's definitely on his mind too. There's not much that's been put out by the studio on this film, not even a one-sheet, so here's the basic plot that's been sent out to all of us. Hereafter is the journey of three people that become affected by death in somewhat differing ways but this connects them anyway. George (Matt Damon) is your blue-collar All-American who unbeknownst to him was born with a special connection to the afterlife.
On the opposite side of the planet, Marie (Cecile De France), a French journalist, is involved in a near-death experience that completely shakes up her world (as would do anyone) and gives her a new take on what she though was her reality. The last person is Marcus, a London school kid, watches someone very close to him die and this begins his quest for answers to what happens to us in the afterlife. Hereafter reminds me of the wonderful Fearless where each person has no relationship with each other, but their lives intersect in ways that they never would have imagined as they move on in their quest to the hereafter.
